About Us
TEC Electric, LLC was formed in 2005 with offices located in Charlotte, NC. We provide general contracting services as well as self-perform all electrical, lighting, network, and security system installation services for customers throughout the Carolinas, Georgia, Virginia and Tennessee.
Currently, TEC has 20 employees consisting of corporate, field operations, engineering, and business development. TEC self-performs all technology systems except fire alarm, lightning protection, and life safety systems. For these services, we subcontract with a select list of companies with which we have a long history of successful partnerships.
Larry Harris, PE
Owner and Managing Partner
Mr. Harris founded TEC Electric and TEC Engineering in 2005 and 2006 respectively. Prior to TEC Electric and Engineering , Mr. Harris founded Harris Electronics, Inc; a successful contract manufacturing and engineering company that designed and developed electronic modules for the automotive industry. Harris Electronics was the first African American owned company to design and develop electronic production parts for Nissan North America.
Since 2006, Mr. Harris has focused on developing TEC Electric and TEC Engineering into one of the leading minority electrical construction firms in the Carolinas. TEC Electric holds an unlimited electrical contracting license in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia and Tennessee as well as an unlimited general contracting license in North and South Carolina. TEC Engineering is registered to provide engineering services in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Mr. Harris is committed to helping his clients build strong communities that support a healthy environment as well as efficient use of resources.
Mr. Harris is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MBA in marketing and Finance from Georgia College. Mr. Harris is a registered Professional Engineer in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
Felicia Silver
Project Manager
Mrs. Silver is a project manager with 20 years of experience in project management, validation, quality and safety. She has managed projects in the pharmaceutical industry, the medical device industry, and consumer health products. Mrs. Silver has extenisve experience in business development and quality control methodologies. Mrs. Silver is a graduate of North Carolina State University and she holds a BS in Chemical Engineering.
Donald James
Operations Manager
Mr. James has over 20 years of operational and management experience with fortune 500 firms and over 5 years of experience as a small business owner. His responsibilities include managing the estimating team and supporting field operations. Mr. James is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS in business.
Melanie Harris-Melvin
Estimator/Assistant Project Manager
Mrs. Melvin has over 3 years of electrical estimating experience with Tec Electric. Her responsibilities include managing the estimating portion and supporting project management/accoutning operations. Mrs. Melvin is a graduate of the East Carolina University.
